Akvocirkulado was co-commissioned by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the Iceland Music Information Centre as a part of the YRKJA project in 2017-18. The work was premiered at Dark Music Days in 2018.
The title Akvocirkulado, derived from Esperanto, translates to "water cycle", epitomizing the eternal dance of water on our planet. This ceaseless journey is captured in the music, as water evaporates from the ocean, condenses into clouds, precipitation falls back to the earth, and eventually flows through streams and rivers, only to return to its origin – the ocean. Akvocirkulado is a musical interpretation of this mesmerizing cycle, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in the perpetual rhythm of nature.
